Kingsgate offers two kinds of economics course: 1. Economics: academic Hong Kong Secondary, International School, and first-year University economics are all offered. Syllabus content varies according to the exam board and examination. Online and some individual tuition is also available. See our downloads section for examples of a short lesson. 2. Economics: critical thinking No subject lends itself as well to a discussion of alternative ideas as economics. From theoretical arguments between capitalism and socialism as models of economic and social organisation, to topical discussions of car industry and banking bailouts, economics provides an invaluable exercise in critical thinking. These courses are particularly suitable for the older student, pre- and post-university, and to the aspiring job-seeker. Interview guidance and practice will focus on the application of economic ideas to the student’s particular context; e.g. a law graduate approaching a job interview might encounter the question of the cost of legal aid, the relevance of civil servant income levels in addressing corruption, and the importance of government regulation of the financial sector. |
